Our Founder
Steaven R. Hamlin, Jr. is a veteran special education leader with over 20 years of experience in both general and special education instructional programming and best practices. For the past 15 years, he has dedicated his career to focusing on special education policy, programming, curriculum and instruction, and evidence-based training for educators and school leaders.
As a former Director of Special Education, Mr. Hamlin was instrumental in managing and developing special education teachers and leaders across multiple schools. His efforts in this role led to the enhancement of teacher and leader capacity and effectiveness through comprehensive professional learning series, course development, and policy creation. His proven track record includes improving special education programs by aligning evidence-based instruction and interventions with Local Education Agency (LEA) needs, significantly boosting the performance of students with disabilities.
Recently, Mr. Hamlin has collaborated with various Local Education Agencies, State Education Agencies, and nonprofit organizations to provide targeted training, coaching, technical assistance, and consultative services. His extensive experience and dedication to special education have made him a trusted partner in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of special education programs nationwide.

To enhance the overall capacity, instructional efficacy, and compliance within Special Education programming. We commit to aggressively and effectively offering targeted professional development, course development, coaching, and technical assistance. Our aim is to empower school leaders, teachers, special education designees, and all staff involved in the educational process, ensuring that every SWD has access to exceptional educational opportunities.
Our Vision
Our commitment is to improve the implementation of special education practices, thereby increasing achievement among SWDs with a keen focus on those of color in urban areas. By building the capacity of educators in urban areas, we envision creating equitable access to high-quality educational experiences in the LRE. Our dedication extends to identifying, understanding, supporting, and implementing inclusive practices and special education processes at both the system and school levels.

My journey, marked by profound experiences, has shaped my understanding and appreciation for the vast spectrum of human diversity and steered my mission and values. As the founder of SES, my vision is deeply personal. As a black man of the LGBTQ+ community and the son of a disabled mother, I have encountered firsthand the challenges that arise from a lack of representation, fairness, and acceptance. These experiences fuel my dedication to creating an environment where every individual—regardless of ability, gender, race, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic—is valued, respected, and given equal opportunity to thrive.
My approach to DEI is not static; it is a dynamic, evolving commitment that permeates our policies, practices, and programs. I am continuously in the building stages of SES’s framework, but my resolve is unwavering. I pledge to ensure that my team members and participants in SES’s programs experience a welcoming space where their authentic selves are honored, their identities are celebrated, and their voices are heard.
